Auricular Therapy Treatment
The effective use of Auricular Therapy for nicotine addiction ideally requires a motivated patient. The goal is to block certain dopaminergic receptors in the brain and to effect the release of endorphins. This is done through a scientific therapeutic process of encouraging patient compliance to restore the balance of neurotransmitters that will allow the person to feel good about him or herself without nicotine Treatment Procedure.
Nerve endings of the external ear are stimulated using coils to facilitate the natural self-regulating mechanisms of the body’s nervous system. Auricular Therapy is painless, has no side-effects and is a proven, safe method of smoking cessation in pregnancy. Patients are treated singly or in groups of up to four patients by the trained, qualified Medical Practitioner and are requested to arrive 15 minutes early in order to complete a questionnaire. You are welcome to download the questionnaire here to save time.

The Doctors’ Tips
The body uses a certain amount of energy to smoke, and once stopped, it needs to rid itself of this excess energy through regular exercise, healthy eating and drinking 2 litres of water daily.
Although the Auricular Therapy takes away the craving for tobacco, the habits need to be addressed by the patient.
Thoughts about smoking (which last for about 10 seconds), may enter the patients’ mind when doing things that are normally associated with smoking. This is a habit, and needs distractions away from this thought by eg.- turning away and drinking a glass of water. Hobbies are also a very good distraction. The habit or thoughts become less and less as the body adjusts to a healthier lifestyle. Boredom must be kept at bay by keeping busy.
